The interscalene plexus block is a form of regional anesthesia that is used during surgeries on dependent sites and/or further pain therapies. By injecting a local anesthetic, the nerve cords (mainly C5-C7) of the brachial plexus are temporarily switched off. It is indicated for procedures on the shoulder and proximal humerus as well as on the lateral two-thirds of the clavicle.
