Exact knowledge of basic thyroid surgery is extremely important for the anesthesiologist in the perioperative and interventional (contrast medium with iodine!!) setting! The exact knowledge of pathophysiological deviations in the context of over- and under-function must also be able to be precisely assigned in order to provide optimal perioperative care!
